Not for 60hz gaming, but what's your monitor resolution/refresh rate?

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

I'm getting a 144hz monitor, that's why I'm getting that gpu instead of my 960.

I would probably suggest just buying the 1080p 144hz display, and saving the rest of your money for a next generation GPU in a few months, should see 1080ti tier performance at around $399-499

This one's 1080p 144hz and has a VA/IPS type panel at $199

No none of my PC components are able to run at 144fps right now unless I make my settings complete trash. That's why I was going to upgrade my Graphics card and I was wondering if it will cause a bottleneck.

In most AAA games your CPU is likely hitting at least 100fps, should be mostly fine.

Your GPU can run esports type titles just fine at 1080p 144fps. Should just buy the display first and try it out.

Still not the best time to buy a modern GPU, but a GTX 1070ti is the one to get for now if it's $500 or less.
Although even a 1060 6GB or preferably an RX 580 on sale is enough for 1080p gaming if you just drop AA/Shadows.

Giving people running a stock 3770 the guarantee they will hit 100fps in most new AAA is a bold statement indeed.

It won't in Asscreed Origins already, just to name one.

Any Decently made/optimized AAA game*

Maybe close to 80 in some games

If he is not getting 100FPS then it will most likely not be the CPU holding him back.

Games are very heavily GPU bound in most scenarios.

Even the Ryzen 3 1200 can get 100 FPS in BF1,Tomb Raider and Witcher 3 at 2560x1440 (Ultra settings).

Then yes you'll bottleneck it in a way 144fps will be a hard call even if you turn settings down.

I used to own a 3770 non K, on a Z77 motherboard you can actually do some multipler and BCLK overclocking, the multi is limited to a 4x increase over stock, but combined with a BCLK overclock (mine was stable up to around 107.5MHz) I was able to achieve 4.4GHz, which isn't that far off 3770K overclocks anyway.

Anyhow, my point is that if it falls a bit short for 144Hz gaming, try overclocking it a bit, it may well be enough to tide you over.
