cheap 128GB SSD with decent quality

Bateman1950x

Hello friends,

I need a cheap 128GB SSD with decent quality for my son's laptop. I tried to get some but not sure which one to go with?

1) Kingston Technology SA400S37/120G SSD A400 120 GB Solid State Drive (2.5 Inch SATA 3)

2) SanDisk SSD PLUS 120 GB Sata III 2.5-inch Internal SSD, Up to 530 MB/s

https://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-PLUS-Sata-2-5-inch-Internal/dp/B07621PNWC/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1525205381&sr=1-2&keywords=120gb+ssd

3) Western Digital SSD Green 120GB 2.5 7mm SATA Gen 3

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Digital-Green-120GB-SATA/dp/B076XWDN6V/ref=sr_1_3?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1525205381&sr=1-3&keywords=120gb+ssd

4) Crucial BX300 CT120BX300SSD1 120 GB Internal SSD (3D NAND, SATA, 2.5 Inch)

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Crucial-BX300-CT120BX300SSD1-Internal-NAND/dp/B073W3Q96S/ref=sr_1_6?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1525205381&sr=1-6&keywords=120gb+ssd

Crucial seems to be the costliest but is it worth those extra pennies?

Thanks!

get the cheapest one, there are all about the same :)

or maybe you'd want to get the one with the longest warranty, your choice :)

In terms of performance, the Crucial's 3D NAND might be an increase. I personally would get the WD Green or Kingston.

Also, your thread title states that you want a 128Gb drive, but all your links are to 120Gb drives. Which one are you looking for?

If they're all SATA III and all have MLC or TLC, there will be none that overtake the max speed by a lot.

Thanks both.

120GB /128GB is fine - just need basic OS and few little apps but all I need is good performance as current 5400rpm sata is horrible.

To be honest, a 7200rpm Sata drive isn't too bad in terms of performance.

I feel your pain though, my laptop has a 5400rpm drive...

Agree, I have another laptop with 7200rpm which aint that bad so no plans on that to upgrade HDD.

Thanks again all for the help - I will go with Crucial's 3D NAND
