nope, any model will work, as long as it is a GTX 980 :)

 

just keep in mind that some models have different dimensions for the PCB, so if you get something with a board partner PCB you might need a flex SLI bridge.

Of course they do.

 

Any 980 will work, note they will both force the same clocks so there's no need really to get a crazy overclocking model. Also check you have an SLI motherboard

 

Unless you've got a good used deal I would just upgrade at the next GPU release. SLI is really dodgy and a single 1080 outperforms 2 980s anyway

I personally see nothing wrong calling the it founders edition as it still imply reference card regardless when it started being used by their marketing team.

 

any ways I don't think a 980 is a card worth bothering with, Maxwell nowadays it either is the 980 Ti or the TITAN XM or just go Pascal either used or new too.

Should work out. Assuming the system and games can handle it. No reason not to do it.
