I have 4 1tb old hard drives on raid 0 and they are outstanding 400read/write , they also sound like the radiation from the game rust. I have a 250gb ssd for my os, would buying another ssd and putting them in raid for gaming and the running my os be a good idea for noise and speed?

why not just buy ssd for game?

no raid OS or SSD, not worth it

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

There is zero performance gain if your goal is response time for loading games. Also raid SSD for OS doesn't really make sense considering m.2 pci-e drives destroy Sata SSDs in raid 0 anyway.

What I did was grab an inexpensive 1TB SSD fr Crucial.

Any SSD is silent. If you're just using it for the OS, grab an NVME drive. Use the 250GB SSD for your most played games, and the lesser played games get shunted to an HDD.

Crucial MX500 is nice for a game drive.

Since you have a 250GB SSD already, install your OS on that, alongside all your common programs, web browsers, and chat apps like Discord, then buy another 500GB SSD from Crucial for around $100-$150, give or take. As others have said, RAID is not really worth your time and efforts setting up compared to just using an SSD in the first place, even if it's "only" a SATA SSD. It's still going to outperform 2 HDD's in RAID and be safer because you don't have to deal with RAID 0 failures.

I don't endorse any form of hardware RAID anyway (technically speaking, hardware RAID does not exist anyway) because of how annoying it is to rebuild, assuming you can even rebuild the array if your RAID card or motherboard fails, and instead recommend using software RAID, such as StableBit DrivePool or another similar pooling software. DrivePool let's me have 2x 500GB Crucial SSD's in RAID1/0 for Writing/Reading data, respectively. This means that my data is RAID1 written to both SSD's (duplicated) and RAID0 read (read striping) from both SSD's for around 1.1Gb/s performance. Some games benefit from this, such as Overwatch, Cities Skylines, and PUBG, while others don't load any faster at all.
