GeForce 397.31 Drivers Creating Endless install Loop for GTX 1060 Owners?

Yep I agree seems that way in the last few years.

 

Nvidia's not bad though, AMD is just a bit ahead...

 

Both companies have ridiculously complex drivers and tend to live on the bleeding edge, so we have to give them both a bit of leeway when they have issues...

i have 1060 6gb with 397.31 driver seems fine, yet once a day its says i need to update and is same driver.
i think the issue was caused from the latest windows update, noticed alot of people that updated after the windows update have similar issues, nvidia say uninstall driver in safe mode reboot and reinstall 391.35 for windows 10 64bit, yet when i did do the original updates all was fine no errors, just strange it always wants to reinstall the same driver.

Especially when the up to date version is only better in the eye candy department and worse in utility.

Because it is slow as a snail when making even one change in the control panel. Plus it could be made more user-friendly, modernized, and faster all at once.

Both the old AMD Catalyst drivers and Nvidia's drivers are just as fast as AMD's new Radeon settings

By hiding settings behind category tabs, as opposed to a nice, organized list?

Nvidia control panel is as user friendly it gets. AMD decided to reduce user friendliness in favor of meaningless eye candy. The only improvement that can really be made is high DPI awareness.

All I wanted is something that's fast, modernized, and easy to use. Changing settings is as sluggish as it gets. You don't have to hide shit behind "meaningless eye candy" to modernize something, that's not smart.

If its taking 10 seconds on your system, it's an issue with your system. On my systems, both take a second to load.

Nvidia setting is just as fast, and doesn't hide functionality behind eye candy.

Don't have a 1060, but I'm getting this very same issue on my own system with a 1070. Just removed drivers using DDU and reinstalled everything, hope it sticks now.

Yep drivers mysterious disappear after the computer is left on idle for a while lol.

 

That's on a 1080ti

 

Works again after install

 

If possible don't go to these drivers.
