Graphics Card Performance help

I got a new graphics card (rx 580) and got a new psu (500 watts) and is performing the same as my gtx 1050 on most of my games, (I will use Overwatch as an Example). In the start menu I get 60 fps, when I enter a game it drops to 20-30 fps some times 40 and when we start fight it goes to 7 to 15 fps, can someone help me here?

did you install drivers properly?

 

you should DDU everything first before reinstalling the RX580 drivers

Amd Athlon X4 860k

gigabyte a68h

120 SSD

and a 250 SSD

8 GB of ddr3

And yes I installed my drivers and the rx 580 has 8 GBs

Your CPU could be bottlenecking. See if you can monitor CPU usage while gaming; if it's getting very high you might have a CPU bottleneck.

That CPU is rather old and doesn't have very good IPC (pre-Zambezi AMD quad core.. eww).  I would look to try other games out or run a few synthetic GPU benchmarks, it's likely that the GPU is fine and the other older system components could be holding you back.

Your CPU is what is limiting performance, not the GPU.  X4 860k is REALLY slow.

It shouldn't be. However, see if you can monitor individual core cpu usage. It's possible that one or two cores are at 100% whereas the others are only around 30 or 40

DDU in Safe mode and reinstall drivers fresh new as mentioned, make sure to delete all drivers (both amd and nvidia with DDU) and that CPU totally is holding it back.

 

CPU usage at 100% is just the easiest way to spot a bottleneck but the CPU can still be the bottleneck even without 100% usage.

You don't even have to check this.

 

GPU performance is nearly the exact same after a significant GPU upgrade and your CPU is old, CPU bottleneck.

 

You would have to OC that thing to nearly 5ghz before you would notice a significant difference in game performance with any GPU.  Its performance is so bad that It was a holding even your old 1050's performance  back.
