Hey guys, I just got a i7 4790. Currently I have a R9 280 gpu, and I'm looking to upgrade this now that I have a better CPU.

I'm in Australia, and I can get a second hand GTX 780ti for around $150, honestly just looking to play games like Fornite, BeamNG, PUBG, Battlefield 1, at decent settings and not have to worry about lag.

Should I just go for the 780ti, or spend the extra and get a mid range 1060?

Any opinion helps, thanks!

780ti looks to be a pretty substantial upgrade according to this:

Looks a lot better, for the games I want to play I guess it wouldn't be worth going to the 10 series card

The 780ti is pretty powerful card on paper but due to lack of driver optimisations it aged poorly. In older games it will easily outperform your R9 280 but in new ones they will perform about the same and sometimes the R9 280 will be even better.

IDK how much you want to pay for it, GTX 1060 would be definitely a more significant jump if you can find it close to the MSRP price.

If not, I would rather look at used 970/980/980ti.

Kepler cards really didnt age well...

AMD Fury cards are rare and usually expensive, but you can still keep an eye on those, just in case a good deal pops up.

Depends on the resolution what you consider decent graphics.

At 1080 the 780 can handle bf1 on ultra with 50-60 frames. Pubg how ever will be crappy. Gonna need all low do have enough frames to stand a chance. I use a 1080 on 1080p and it’s playable now.

Kinda depend what you want to sacrifice.
