MISSING RAM SLOT?

Go to solution Solved by NoRomanBatmansAllowed,

First - it'd be great if you didn't follow Linus' clickbait title policy :)

Yep, it definitely looks like you've only got one. Maybe the manufacturer made a chip that supports 2 sticks, but for your model they only actually stuck one slot onto the motherboard.

Hello Good day! Please help me I am just a newbie. My task manager says My laptop have a RAM slot #2 and CPU Z also says I have. But when I opened My laptop and checked my motherboard for for the RAM slot it has only 1 ram of course, and i removed it. After i remove the RAM I didn't see any other RAM slot to put my other RAM stick. I don't understand why my task manager and CPU Z says that the laptop has 2 slots of ram but it only has 1. Feel free to check the pictures. Please correct me if I'm mistaken. Thank you!

Note: When i took a photo of my RAM slot i already remove the 4 GB stick.

What laptop?

Often ram is soldered on the board and thats one of the slots.

Often also the bios is wrong as those programs are reading from the smbios and the cpu is supporting 2 dimms, it just only has a slot for one dimm.

Want to know which mobo to get?

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

Often one dimm is soldered and one is in a dimm slot. Does it boot with no dimms? did you check on the otherside of the board?

I didn't check on the other side of the board, I haven't tried booting up the machine without DIMMS.

Either the other slot is on the back side of the board, or the laptop has a bunch of memory soldered directly to the board and only one slot is physically present.

MISSING RAM SLOT?

Don't want to sound too annoyed or something, but the all caps combined with the question mark kinda did it for me.

Some laptops have soldered ram, but yours does not.
