What should I do?!!!

Here’s my dilemma, I have a fx-8350 paired with a r9 390, I still have a pretty decent computer so i’m not in a hurry to upgrade but as a former member of the pc master race I want to get a better pc. I would like to get the best hardware  for gaming as possible, something like a i7 8700k paired with a gtx 1080 ti. I know Volta gpu’s are rumored to come out quite soon. I’m also not able to get both components at the same time due to budget limitations,  so here’s my question: Should I upgrade my cpu now? is there a better option for making sure my build is “future proof”? Is the 1080 ti overkill/ overprice even close to the 700 usd msrp?

Depends on what you are playing. Is that 390 not performing well? (its probably being bottlenecked a bit) What resolution do you want to play at?Budget? Do you want to be able to upgrade the CPU with your same mobo?

I’m playing in 2560x1080, for the budget part i’m planning to spent around 1500 usd in the next year or so. At this resolution I’m running newer games like assassin creed origins and kingdom come deliverance at around 45 non stable fps in medium/high settings. I also already know for a fact that the am3 mobo is too old to think about upgrading.
