M.2 as a form factor doesn't as it only adds a lack of cooling for the drive. It's NVMe that makes a drive faster, and this standard (replacing AHCI) is in a lot of M.2 SSDs. It makes sense for about .01% of people to buy an NVMe SSD.
The SSD you chose is fine.
