gtx 780 3gb or gtx 1050 2 gb

Tubbyderp

Hi not sure what to do i have a rog strix gtx 1050 2gb which is cool but i have a msi twin forzr gtx 780 3gb which out performs the 1050 by quiet a bit on the games i play. Now what card would you use? i no the 1050 is more power efficient but less performance. So obviously im thinking stick with the 780 but will nvidia eventually stop driver updates for the 780 Im a bit stuck more performance or longer driver updates

780

Kepler still works fine, you can always load an older driver, and until GPU prices come way down, it's where the real price to performance values are.

Personally, I'd go with the 1050 just because of its power efficiency - I don't really need a card to be powerful; however, if you're looking for the better performance, you'll get that with the 780.

Well I want better performance so the choice is clear. No reason to worry about driver updates as you haven't got any for that card for years now.

It still gets some updates due to the unified nature of NVidias drivers.

GTX 670/680/770/780 all the way.  They all outperform even the GTX 1050 Ti.  The 670/680/770 only if you can find a 4gb version though.

Ok so if the driver updates stop does that mean eventually the games i play will stop working? with the 1050 2gb bf1 on medium settings managed 60 fps with the 780 i have ultra 1080p 60 fps.So i think im a pc gaming noob obviously the 780 is better but eventually that will stop.Only trying to make sure as im going to sell one of the graphics cards to upgrade my memory.

They are still providing new drivers for the GTX 400 series, I doubt drivers are going to be a problem in the next few years.

The drivers are the same. Wouldn't stop working either. Only for certain games that require a certain version to run. I was using the December 2015 driver until bf1 forced me to update. No reason to update unless you have to.

The 780 sits around the 1050 ti where the 1050 is... a 1050. I would definitely go with the 780.
