I found a craigslist computer, thoughts?

So my friend wants to get into PC gaming, and has a budget of 600 dollars. This seems like a good deal as it has 16 gb of ram and a little bit of an upgrade path. It should do him well for awhile. 

 

Anyways I thought that the PSU was a fire hazard, and it would need a gpu. Is it worth buying this and then trying to get like a 970 or something off of ebay along with a power supply?

Not a great deal with no gpu. A r5 2400 g system is faster and about the same price.

Not awful, but if you're replacing the PSU anyway I'd probably go with a new Ryzen system for a touch more.

Also, don't go to eBay for your graphics card. Check out the Reddit Hardware Swap, prowl it for a week or two, and pick up something there. You'll spend a lot less.

he kind of wants to just get in now. I dont think that a new ryzen system would perform as well considering it also has an ssd and 16 gb of ram. I think the 5th gen intel are also ddr3 so maybe that would be a possibility in the future? I just dont want to get a ryzen 2400g system if he wants to play pubg. I think a 970 or 960 would do him fine for awhile. 250 seems good for one?

SSD's of the capacity listed in that add are super cheap. Like $40 or $50.

Up to you though. It really comes down to how much you value warranty.

$250 is way too high. I've seen many sell for ~ $160, including a brand new fresh from RMA one.
