Found some used parts that someone is selling, wondering if it's a good deal or not.

A 6700k (Used)

MSI Z170-A PRO (Used)

And a MSI 980 Gaming 4G that's still sealed. (Never been used)

The guy wants $650.

Do you already own a PC? The Ryzen 5 1400 dropped the value of intel's previous 4c/8t CPUs IMO. Might be alright at like $500, preferably less, especially if it doesn't come with any DDR4.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

No, i sold the i7 4790 system i had in February and now i regret it lmao. I've been looking at the i5 8400 as well as the Ryzen 5 lineup before i came across these used parts, not sure which one is better for me. I don't overclock and i've never done it (I mean i guess i could give it a shot) and i don't do any editing of any kind, i just play games. (PUBG, some Battlefield 1 and 4, Arma 3 etc..)

Should just grab an R3 2200G system for the time being. Does some alright 1080p gaming and around $400 or less, maybe step up to the R5 2400G so you don't have to bother with a CPU upgrade later. May be worth waiting for X470 boards at this point though.

Yeah, maybe.. I also just realized that you can only pair the i5 8400 with a Z370 motherboard, no B or H chipsets. That seems like a waste to me. Might as well suck it up and pay the extra ~$50 for the 8600k at this point and it think that's what i'll do.

Thanks for the replies.

The i7 8700 non K is always worth it over the 8600K, when B360 boards come out it'll cost the same overall, usually pretty close right now because you have to buy a heatsink for the 8600K.

Course Ryzen overall is likely the best value still.
