CSGO FPS Problems with 7800x+1080

ShadowzPower

Hey everyone, today I have a question that I wanted to ask the the moment I installed CSGO and ran it for the first time on this machine I'm typing on.

It's a custom build that I bought in November, with brand new parts and top of the line hardware, problem is, when I finished installing my games, I started CSGO and noticed the extremely poor performance, running it on a OC 7800x and OC 1080 Strix, I mean, the average FPS jumps between 90 and 260 never being constant and even dipping below 90.

This wouldn't bother me that much if it wasn't for the fact that this PC costs about 3300 euros, including an LG 144Hz monitor, thus making drops super noticeable.

To this day, even after patches, the game still runs like total shit, actually, it runs even worse after chaning my viewmodel parameters.

So, I don't want to use tricks to fix this problem and I bet they still woulnd't solve anything since even by lowering the graphical details FPS won't change (it's a classic), so commands won't work.

Any suggestions?

Try to lock fps. That should help with dips. Are you experiencing actual issues with gameplay being sluggish or stuttering and stuff like that?

Any chance of a detailed List of Pc components, Plus are you running it fullscreen or Windowed. Sometimes windowed can cause issues as It has done with me prior.

Some people prefer a challenge, I just band my head against a wall until my method works...

All drivers are up to date, the 7800x is clocked at 4.7Ghz stable, with watercooling it doesn't get hotter than 80° C

The 1080 OC is limited due to GPU Tweak, about 1900Mhz.

All games I play are in fullscreen, with a 21:9 2560x1080 monitor.

FPS on CSGO are already locked to 300 and it doesn't make a difference, it doesn't even let me lock it lower or higher than that, it just ignores everything that I do.

The gameplay is bad, I can't even say "random" drops since it's like this everytime I play

I don't care what you set your clocks to or what you think it runs at. Open up Msi Afterburner with OSD and then play the game to see your exact Temps, clock speeds and usage during gameplay/while the drops happen.

Maybe give windowed Fullscreen a try to see if that helps.

If you don't want to help me, don't, no need to be an ass.

FPS don't drop, they fluctuate, they're never constant so they can't be seen on afterburner

This is a screenshot of the GPU, the CPU stays under 60 degrees, I had CAM opened

If you don't see anything in gameplay related to fluctuation, then don't mind it. Also, what you are using to "lock" fps to 300? Software or console commands? CS has allowed lower locking of FPS since 1.6. Pros lock it to 125 or 250 to prevent heavy drops which can be seen in gameplay. If you lock it lower than where it maxes or closer to overall average, it doesn't seem to fluctuate that much.

Set the fps_max to something like 150 fps. See how close it stays to that. You can set fps_max 300, but I don't know that the 1080 will stay at that throughout your gameplay. Also, cs:go won't lock at a certain frame rate -- it will set a max value and prevent you from exceeding it. I can play at 4k with a constant 120 fps with my 1070, but I don't know what your wider screen normally should be.  And something weird I have seen with my 1070 is that sometimes higher max fps sees more drastic drops.

A 1080 at 1080p should comfortably run CSGO at 300+ FPS and I really not like the idea of locking it lower than that.

Also, it doesn't matter anyway, if I put fps_max 150 it does the same thing except now it drops even lower.

As I said, it's noticeable especially on a 144Hz monitor

Pascal is funny with csgo

300 + consistent is bit unrealistic but 200 should be achievable

it's like this with only the game open ?

- 4000 32gb ram

-4070ti super duper
