Hello car enthusiasts,

So i have a bit of a pickle. I have a 2006 Ford Fusion SE, the paint on the hood has been delaminated and the paint has been fading. I have some options getting a new hood and having a body shop do it. However, this is currently out of my price range and will be for the next year or so. My next thought would be to put a wrap on it. Was wondering if anyone knows of any good hood wrap brands for cars, Im mainly looking for a black matte finish.

Thanks fellow techtippers.

2 cans of black matte paint and a can of clear coat automotive enamel go for $30 or so, and IMO, look much better than wraps around the same cost.

You can also do your own designs.

Why not sand, prime, and paint the hood yourself? It might take you the better part of an afternoon, but it's well worth the effort.

I vote for paint it yourself as well. I'll be doing that for probably half, if not more of my car once it warms up. (That way I can try to sell it. But first it'll need a lot of bondo and misc. work.)

why not find an auto-recycler and buy a used hood off of a vehicle that is the same color?

tried this plenty of times, hard to find

Sand it down first with a rotary sander first obviously right?

If you're going for a finish job, going to use it for a while, or take pride in everything you do, yes.

If it's for a week to a month, it's not all that necessary.
