4k vs 1440p ultrawide

TheShwayz

Hey guys just wanted some of your opinions on the topic which I know has been asked could countless times but even after scouring through those posts I can't make up my mind.

My PC

-i5 8600k

-16gb ram 3000mhz

-ssd and hdd

-evga 1080ti liquid cooled

-acer 4k g-sync

-lg ultrawide 1080p 144hz lg34uc79g-b

So what I really wanted to do is replace both monitors with a 1440p 100hz ultrawide too free up desk space.

-Is there a big difference that is noticable in

image quality between 4k and 1440p?

- is there a noticable difference between 100hz and 144hz?

- if there's a difference between 4k and 1440p should I just replace the LG which doesn't solve my space problem?

-should I just get a larger desk lol

I know I know first world problems and I shouldn't be complaining but I'm sure you guys will have valuable input to guide me

Thanks in advance.

There is a quite noticeable difference between 1440p and 4k, but remember that you'll only see a difference between 100hz and 144hz if your card is pushing out more than 100fps.

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Most people notice the difference between 60 and 100 much more than 100 and 144.

However, that's very individual dependent. I have friends that can't even see the difference between 60 and 100.

If it was me, I'd just get a bigger desk :P

I'm going to go get the 1440p ultrawide then do a comparison and let you guys know what I think. But yeah 4k is just amazing for story driven games but that ultrawide higher refresh rate experience is amazing too. When do we get 4k ultrawide high refresh rate and cheaper GPU with no miners around, that's the dream.

Depends what you're doing.  For gaming, the immersion on ultrawide is good, but for movies and streaming and well-roundedness I'd go for 4K (if its of large enough size and your gpu can handle it in games)

I don't think additiona lheight on a monitor is an issue until a certain point.  If we were talking 40", I'd rather have it horizontal so I don't have to look up and down all the time.  But if we're talking closer to 30", not a problem
