Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X OC Review - Finallyyy

Jmds

Not nearly as much of a performance boost from the reference 290 as I was expecting. But at least it puts a lid on those 95 degree temps, haha

Would have been nice if they actually tested with settings people will use. I am sure all 5 people with a 4K monitor are happy that they posted these benchmarks, but for most people they are fairly useless.

I'll wait for better reviews before making my mind up.

The 4k results are not as impressive as I thought they would be. AMD was rabbiting on for ages about hwo the card doesn't really stretch its legs until you get to extreme resolutions with it's awesome memory... and nVidia is still beating them out. Sad face.

Awesome looking card, but I can't stand webpages that still use tiny "pages" that require you to click through 20+ pages. It's almost 2014, we aren't on 56k anymore, it should all be on one page.

With a card that costs twice as much? So impressive.

I want to see Asus' DirectCU II benchmarks! :) If that is around 420 $ as supposed, it will be an awesome card.

This isn't an R9 290x though, it's an R9 290. Sapphire has branded this specific model the Tri-X OC referring to it being overclocked and having 3 fans not because it is the X variation of the 290.

That is just the inflated price due to the mining craze.... it has an RRP of $499 I believe, but the card in question - the 290 is supposed to sell for $399 which is almost half.

Hehe, not in Finland. 290 is still 399 € and 290X 529 € :) But well, those USD prices are still cheaper than these. :D We are used to those extremely high prices...
