Registry cleaners

What’s the consensus on registry cleaners? I’ve been told they are not good because it has no effect on the system and has the potential to delete an important key in the registry, but I have used them after some uninstalled programs caused issues and after their keys were found I deleted them. So should it be used regularly, only when needed, or not at all? What do you guys think? And if you guys do agree with them then recommend me a trustworthy and reliable one, i current use wise registry cleaner and haven’t had any problems, but I would like to know if there’s anything better.

It's up to you, but I don't use registry editors. I usually reinstall Windows every 8-12 months to keep my system running smoothly and to get rid of the inevitable slowdown Windows encounters over time.

Registry cleaners have been around for ages but considering today's hardware a couple of supposedly 200+ invalid garbage or null entries won't slow your system at all. Don't know what was the speed up from such a clean back then. But one thing is for sure - nowadays it's something like semi snake oil that can still make profit off of non tech-savvy users.

Better stay away from those unless it is a very old running OS like 3+ years that hasn't been taken care very well.

Use Ccleaner's. I use it like once a month. Haven't faced any problem with that. I suggest my clients to use that too. No complaints from them so far. But, your mileage may vary.

I would NEVER use ANY registry cleaner. If you have Windows issues, just reinstall it.

After CCleaner got malware packaged with it, I would stay FAR AWAY from it. To each his own though.

What malware? You're talking about this ? https://www.theverge.com/2017/9/18/16325202/ccleaner-hack-malware-security

If there was any, I'm pretty sure it's gone now. Download it from Filehippo.com or Ccleaner.com

Millions of people use it. It's good.
