what cooler are you going for?  If its only going to be used for gaming and everyday stuff like video playback and surfing the web, then go with the 8600k.  You wont really benefit from the i7 unless you plan on doing video editing or anything tasking like that.  Also you dont need that much power from your psu.  Go with a 650w or even a 750w to be safe unless the 850w is on sale for a great price.  Otherwise everything looks good

Current Rig=  AMD Ryzen 9 5900x, Asus Crosshair Hero VIII, EVGA RTX 3070 FTW3 ultra, 32gb Corsair Vengence Pro RGB 3000hz White, EVGA 750 P2 PSU, 1TB Samsung 980 Pro, 500gb samsung 860 evo, 250GB Samsung 850 evo, 2TB Samsung 970 Evo Plus, 2TB seagate firecuda sshd,  LianLi PC 011 Dynamic XL ROG edition, Corsair h150i elite capelix

Was thinking a Noctua d15 air cooler. An AIO looks tempting but I don’t want the potential for leaks.

for the psu I was thinking having a little extra power would be good in case I want to add another GPU in the future. Is it bad to have an overpowered psu? Does it use up more electricity?

thanks!

The difference in electricity consumption is negligible but 750W is more than enough for today's systems. SLI has less and less support so don't plan on getting a second card. Plan on upgrading to a newer one.

No they dont.  like i said before unless the 850w is on some insane sale, which they can be (corsair 850w psu was cheaper and better then a more expensive 750w corsair psu) then go for something a bit cheaper but dont and i mean DONT cheap out on a psu

Also, consider adding an HDD. I don't know what your storage needs are, but I personally don't need a 1TB of SSDs. Some games don't even load faster on them and you never play more than a few at a time. Also is getting two 500GB SSDs cheaper than getting a 1TB or is there some other reason that you are planning on getting 2x500GB

you don't need a pair of 960 evos, get an mx500 and a 2tb HDD instead, use the money on a mobo with better VRMs. PSU is overkill if you don't plan to sli.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

I think that the video is missing something. Each tested PSU has a different power rating and a different wattage. To really minimize the consumption of power you should buy a PSU that has the highest rating and its wattage is approximately double the theoretical power that you can get from adding up the TDP of the CPU and GPU (the graphs show that you get the highest efficiency at around 50%).

So for most builds that would be 500-750W  and an 80+ gold rating (do they make PSUs of a higher rating at this wattage)

buy 500GB 2.5" SSD and 1TB of 7200rpm Western Digital Black HDD

Let me just add my thoughts on this. 1TB HDDs have some of the highest price/TB and WD black is even worse :D I'm not saying it's bad. Historically, it's probably one of the best drives out there. But the price of it is just too high to justify its performance (which most competitors match - at the end, it comes down to personal experiences with the companies. I've used HDD from a lot of them and none of them failed - some have started to fail but when that happens you just buy a new one and copy the data )

Is there no benefit to having 2 960 evos? I thought it would be faster than an adding an SSD.

Which mobo do you recommend? Yeah people are recommending that I not do SLI, I might go with a lower watt PSU...is Corsair the best for PSU's?

for 4K rendering/editing maybe, but for lighter work a regular sata ssd will work just fine. an asrock K6/extreme4 are decent choices. All companies can make gems or trash, look by model and not the brand.
