Best way to remote control my RaspberryPi (Raspbian)?

Go to solution Solved by newcbomb,

I would def. recommend VNC. Its build right in and is directly connected. (you dont need a remote server like team viewer) Team viewer would rely on your internet connection where VNC is device to device. Assuming they are on the same local network.

Hello guys,

I have a raspberry Pi with Raspbian that is being used as a PLEX server (with an external HDD) and I also want to set it as a download station, so, for this I would like to remove access it from my windows 10 PC.

I read some way for team viewer to work in the Pi. I also read a VNC option, willing to try both but want to k now which one would be the better option. ALso, how well does the Team viewer will work in it? I already use it to manage my other PC so it could simplify stuff on the windows side at least.

Cheers.

Does that works if I have 1 PC with Ethernet cable and the Pi with WiFi?

Thanks for the quick reply btw.

VNC works with any network connection as long as they are on the same sub-net.

It will be a basic admin use connection, I wouldnt use it to browse the internet or anything.

Why is that? is it too slow? Im installing right now. I only want it to set some downloads and organize some files.

VNC is not really good for real-time or high motion uses.  Its primarily designed to be "good enough" to do remote GUI administration of headless servers.

That and using the Pi for VNC and web browsing will cause it to choke.

Ive been tinkering with a Pi for remote camera and servo control use, getting any kind of real-time graphical feed from it (camera or GUI) swamps the CPU.
