Look in to 4G LTE, it will be at least the same speed as what your paying, lower latency and maybe cheaper. Not sure about data usage, cause that differs carrier to carrier. But it could be a better option.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Alright, I'll look into it, but I'm going to have to find a more permanent solution eventually. Wonder how much it would cost to buy out an ISP. jk

Thats what you gotta understand. 4G is most likely going to be your more permanent solution. Just did a speed test on my T Mobile phone. I get 45/8 where I live with 32ms of Ping. Not too bad if you ask me.

Some providers have home internet options. Where you get a 4G router, that acts like any other internet router. Meaning your entire home could have internet. The catch is, most plans have data limits. Where you are charged an overage fee OR your service is slowed down till the next billing cycle.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

I'm over here with Spectrum (southern FL) wishing for fiber gigabit speeds instead of my 100 down 10 up lol. Anyways, why not try to move in a little closer to the more dense areas? I look at Miami and Orlando and those seem to be a few of the first areas in FL with fiber gigabit speeds unfortunately.

Well, for one, I'm 17, and my parents would prefer I don't move out. But the biggest reason is, my family (including myself), hates the city, and we have a nice place we moved to here in the country with a few acres, two houses, and a nice little pond in the backyard. Since my work involves making a lot of video calls (I'm a 3d artist), and downloading quite large files though, I may have to move at some point if the internet doesn't get better.

the improvement of internet here in Florida has been straight garbage thought the years (at least in my area). Charter bought bright House a few years ago and that probably delayed something. When I see posts like these but thought the US, the US is really behind Europe in internet quality and accessibility.

Yeah, same here in the panhandle. Many areas don't have  any internet options... We were "lucky" enough to have satellite as an option.

Last mile providers charge a lot of money to run cable. Company I worked for in the past only had a bonded T1 connection, called Verizon to quote us on running cable... I think it was upwards of $10 per foot, $10,000 per thousand feet. It varies depending on how much effort they have to put in to running the cable. It also sucks because each county/state is locked into one last mile provider who essentially is a monopoly.

So if you're over a mile from the nearest fiber node, expect large chunks of money.

You can use micro towers but you'll need a friend who'd let you put one on their house and line of sight. A mile would definitely be pushing it and the equipment would be expensive. Not to mention weather would be an issue as well.

Given you work and desire for high internet speeds, sounds like the country life isn't for you. Might need to think about buying a house in the burbs when you're older / have the income, you can definitely find a few acres there. I personally have quite a few friends with 3-5 acres of land and cable access, it's not a lot of land (compared to the 50+ you can get in the country).
