MSI Custom Laptops and World MSI Resellers

MSI Custom laptops and World MSI Resellers

MSI is for  Micro-Star International and it is a taiwanese ODM (Original Design Manufacturer). They design and produce their laptops, mobile workstations, desktop pcs, motherboards and gpus.
The most part of Brands like Dell, Alienware, HP, Lenovo, Acer, Gigabyte, Aorus are only OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) so they don't produce laptops. OEMs use barebones made by ODMs like Quanta, Compal, Clevo or also Pegatron and Foxconn. Old Alienware were Clevo's barebones until 2003 and now they are prodiuced by Compal.

What is a custom laptop?

It is a laptop in which you have the ability to choose how much RAM to put, to choose between what SSD / HDD or different panels, cpus and gpus.
It is also useful to be able to take a barebone without disks and license.

What's special?

MSI uses MXM gpus for MSI GT62VR/GT72VR/GT73VR/GT75VR/GT83VR and 16L13. 16L13 is the atm the only MSI with a desktop cpu inside

Prema Bios

http://premamod.com/

premamod_DL.thumb.jpg.5e6bf7979954038a28

Benefits of Prema BIOS :

• Restores user ability to overclock or underclock the CPU
• Restores user control over CPU power settings (voltage, watts, amps) for optimal performance and/or thermal efficiency
• Restores ability to control non-turbo CPU core ratio
• Restores ability to control CPU c-states and p-states
• Restores ability to control BCLK (northbridge) and FCLK (System Agent) frequency
• Restores ability to enable Intel Speed Shift Technology functionality
• Restores ability to disable Intel Software Guard Extensions (SGX) functionality which is intended for software developers who want to use that feature and causes erratic system behavior
• Restores ability to control RSR, Watchdog Timer, ASPM, ACPI sleep and hibernation functionality
• Restores ability to control RAM timings, clock speeds and enables the utilization of XMP profiles
• Restores ability to control selection of Legacy, UEFI and CSM to install whatever operating system is desired
• Restores ability to control CPU-based DEP, AES (encryption) and Virtualization
• Restores ability to control GPU scaling, PCIe speed and power management features
• Restores control over Thunderbolt and USB 3.1 configuration
• Restores control over SATA port configuration and Intel LPM. Having the ability to disable drive ports allows exclusive control over what drive receives the BCD/boot sector, system and recovery partitions during Windows Setup and eliminates the need to physically remove non-OS drives when installing a new OS.

Do you own any of these laptops?

I have the GS73VR 6RF, and have been thinking about trying to do a repaste to help temps a bit. I've already undervolted for good temps without loss of performance, but wanted to see if paste would make a big difference as well. I just don't want to void my warranty by removing that sticker. I'd also like to upgrade the m.2 SSD to NVMe with larger capacity.

Lastly, the speakers on this are kind of week. I'm assuming there isn't an upgrade speaker from a different model that is compatible?
