Need help to verify if phone is new

Nazilad

So im planning on buying a Galaxy S7 from a third party unofficial store or a site similar to craigslist. They are advertising the phone as a new phone, but I find it difficult to trust them. Is there any way to prove the phone im buying is factory new and not refurbished or used.

The guy from "craigslist"  says he's selling it for 210 USD.

The store told me 300 USD.

I would put my money on that not only is it NOT new, there is a good chance it is STOLEN.

Yes, you can ask them for the IMEI and serial number of the phone, then call or visit your cellular dealer to have them run a check on both for you.

If the seller won't provide these before the sale, DO NOT BUY IT and report them to your local consumer protection agency.

If your cellular provider won't look these up for you FOR FREE, find a new provider who cares about the safety and security of their customers.

Unless the phone has the original factory sealed box, assume it's NOT factory new, and most likely stolen, or just being dishonestly sold.

If it's not sealed in box then it's not factory new

It's a used product the moment they tear the sticker
