OEM questions?

nkucz

Find me a single motherboard that is easy to acquire that can accept 512GB and I'll bake you some cookies. (not trolling here; seriously, I want to know if one exists which isn't server-grade)

ahah! i was just about to own you but then you had to say "not server grade" at the end .. dammn you.

that would require about 64 ram slots so obviously the answer is no, not even with ddr4 ram.

But can't you just get a hammer and tap more ram into the PCI slots? I mean, they don't honestly need ALL the contacts touching - that's just marketing crap!

Mind you, we could always just download more ram...

Seriously though, what server-grade boards support 512GB? I know of one's that do 128GB and even 256GB, never seen a 512GB one though... and the cost...

well then .. for "consumer server grade hardware" yes that makes no sense but i think you get the idea, you can get your hands on a 4p motherboard that has 8 ram slots per cpu (H8QGI), and it's also possible to find 16 GB ecc ram sticks, then put two and two together .. 4 x 8 = 32    32 x 16  = 512

in theory i think it's possible to have exactly 1 TB of ram with 32 GB ram sticks but i don't think they have been made, and would probably be extremely retarded and impractical anyway, i think the socket supports it but not the actual ram .. could be mistaken though.

and yes the cost would be ungodly ...

http://m.newegg.com/Product/index?itemnumber=N82E16813131814

And there are 24 others apparently on newegg that can handle 512GB of ram
