How to tell if your on-board audio is any good.

NORSMEN

Hey everyone,

I'm going to buy a new headset pretty soon (the Steelseries arctis 5)  and I was wondering how tell if my motherboard's on-board audio is good enough for it.  Does anyone know what makes a motherboard's on-board audio "good"?

(I'm running the Asrock pro micro ATX if it helps)

thanks

First of all listening to it with a pair of speakers or such. And if the audio is bad quality, look into a sound card.

buy headphones

plug them in

listen to music

if it sounds good, it's good..

if it sounds terrible... dac yourself

if it's not loud enough... amp yourself, preferably with a dac too

138 is a good number.

The Arctic 5s should be fine but the only way you can know if your motherboard will power your headphones properly is to try it out yourself.

You listen to something and then hear if it is good or not.

What I do is I turn it on and then see if it is working. Then I go this is working, job done.
