1440p gaming with current rig? Or Should i Upgrade

Hi Guys,

Currently, my rig comprises of -

i7 3770 / 16gb Ram ddr3/ Gtx 1060 6GB Zotac/ Intel DH61WW Motherboard.

I am gaming on a 27inch Samsung Monitor at 1080p resolution.

I was wondering with the current specifications, can I expect to game at 1440p resolution at high settings, expecting around 60 fps or more.

And if it is not possible to achieve by replacing any of the components of my current built (except graphics card), can I expect a performance improvement in 1440p.

Thank You for your suggestions and opinions in adavance.

Depending on the game. I would not hope for 1440p with latest titles and Crysis 3 seeing how 1060 still sometimes not reaching 60fps with maxed out settings.

SPECS: Intel Core i5-4460 // PowerColor Red Dragon RX 480 4GB // 1x8GB DDR3 RAM // Delta 500AB-6A PSU // HyperX Cloud Stinger / Logitech G710+ / Logitech G502 / Xbox One Halo Guardian controller // LG 24M45H 1080p //

My current monitor is not IPS backlit. Will I experience any significant change in gaming if I buy a 1080p resolution with IPS technology as an alternative to 1440p?

IPS makes color look beautiful that is all. I personally do not notice a huge difference but maybe I have not used IPS that long enough to see it. In gaming, there should be no difference if they are both same refresh rate.

a 1440p monitor will look much better than a 1080p monitor with IPS.

One more question!

Is it worth upgrading to 1440p gaming from 1080p? Or should i wait for 2-3 years more for 1440p or 2k resolution technology to reduce and then think of upgrading?

For a GTX 1060 6GB I would stay at 1080p

Yea but what specifically? Like what specific titles? I'm just wondering because depending on what you play you may or may not be able to push 1440p 60 fps at high settings.

I actually prefer VA panels or the Samsung quantum dot ones over IPS just because i notice the glow or slight bleed and it drives me crazy.

I think you can get most games to run at 60 on high settings.

Main PC = I5 7600K @4.5ghz, Asus Gtx1070, 16GB DDR4 3000Mhz, 480GB SSD, Msi Z270 Mobo.

Apologies for not being Specific. Following Game Titles I'm currently playing - COD and Battlefield Series, FIFA 18, Kingdom Come Deliverance, Hitman, Witcher 3, Cities Skylines.

Hmmm. But now my concern is the budget if I plan to shift to 1440p. I am from India and 1440p gaming monitors prices here start from 600 USD. Is still worth it if one is budget sensitive?

If you're willing to go to medium settings I think you could hit 1440p 60 fps. High wouldn't be doable on some of those titles though.

Damn that's pretty expensive. If that's the case I would stick with 1080p

Maybe I will stick to 1080 gaming for a year or two now. Thank You, everyone, for your suggestions and opinions :)

Cheers
