I've been pretty bored lately and figured I would like to get back into watching some anime. I'm not that knowledgeable about it and what shows are good and which aren't, but I'm sure many of you are. From the few anime's I've watched so far I really enjoyed FMA Brotherhood and the first season or two of One Piece. I appreciate a good story line and a little bit of action (not too much though), I thought FMA Brotherhood was a perfect combination of the two. Here is my animelist if you guys want to see what I've already watched and what I rated it (there's not much on it yet). http://myanimelist.net/animelist/Benjio

Thanks for any suggestions :)

sword art online lol but you can't go wrong with either

I think I'm going to try SAO first and then switch to Attack on Titan if I don't like it. SAO does seem more appealing based off of the short summaries I read though. :)

Attack on Titan is much better--just as good as Brotherhood imo.

SAO flopped like a fish cut in half.

Just some recommendations that may or may not be action related (if you're interested)

Great Teacher Onizuka

Monogatari series

Neon Genesis Evangelion *cough cough* *throws up*

Panty Stocking with Garterbelt

Peulla Magi Madoka Magica

Code Geass.

This +9001

I've watched most animes listed here. I'm still going to say Code Geass is the must-watch-now among the ones listed here.

Alright you guys convinced me, I just got through the first episode of SAO and thought it was pretty good, so you guys better be right about this one :D

R1 is amazing R2 is pretty damn good. I'm ignoring Akito the Exiled since it is an OVA and has nothing to do with the main plot of the first two.

I think it is all actually available on youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-BPpbsjyyQ here is the first episode. If it isnt on youtube you can probably find it on your preferred site.

I prefer the dub over subs for one of the first/only times. Great voice actors.

Thanks, I think I'm still going to watch the subbed version though. For some reason I feel like I'm not getting the full anime experience if I watch a dub, even if there are good voice actors. Also what is Akito the Exiled? Is that a spin off movie or something?

Everything that I am watching and have watched I recommend. You should really watch Clannad + Clannad After Story if you haven't already. Amazing anime.

I watched the first 10 episodes of Clannad and it got a bit boring in my opinion, it felt like it wasn't going anywhere. I have heard that most people say that After Story is the better of the two though.

It is the better of the 2, but you have to watch Clannad before watching the After Story. And Clannad was definitely going somewhere, shame that you jumped ship. Clannad takes a bit longer to get to places (ie dem feels), whereas in the After Story it's just about every...damn...episode...

I have watched the entire anime with subs twice and dub 4 times. I would give dub a shot for one episode. Akito the Exiled is an OVA that is pretty much unrelated.

Here's my list of anime that's really out of date, but oh well.

http://myanimelist.net/animelist/Shiki-niisan

I highly recommend Fate/Zero, Steins;Gate, Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Darker than Black, Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, Baka to test (really good comedy one), Katekyo Hitman Reborn, and so many more...

If you dislike SAO, give the novels a shot from either fan translations, or the official ones that are supposed to start coming out early 2014.  The anime's biggest problem is that people weren't really able to see the fact that the first half of the series is just one arc in a much longer story.

Personally, I'd recommend Higashi no Eden (Eden of the East), Steins;Gate, Fate/Zero, Madoka Magica, Susei no Gargantia (Gargantia on the Verdous Planet), and Kara no Kyoukai (The Boundary of Emptiness).  Another series that I love that I wish got more attention would be Nijuu Mensou no Musume aka The Daughter of Twenty Faces.
