Obnoxious Youtube Thumbnails Over Videos

Near the end of Youtube videos, there are almost always large obnoxious buttons which block the rest of the video. Whose dumb idea was it to implement these? Anyone know a way to get rid of them?

It doesn't seem to do anything for these things. Both AB+ and ublock-O fail to stop them, they're not really adds though.  And disabling annotations doesn't get rid of them either.

Just don't watch the video on YT itself.  Copy the URL, paste it into some video downloading program and watch the downloaded video. 

That way you can also view videos several times without wasting bandwidth.
