Neither personally, I thought about getting one of the ROGs around the same price but they're literally plagued with bad reviews concerning about the bad thermal performance of them

I ended up getting an msi GE63VR raider on sale and it's been performing great so far and they're usually around 1700 so you should check it out

NEVER buy laptop by brand, in fact these brands don't manufacturer their own laptops, these are done by ODMs like Quanta, Compal, Clevo etc. Every brand has good and bad products, buy laptop by model not brand. Asus GL series is a bit mediocre and overpriced, if you want something portable yet powerful then look into Clevo P950, MSI GS63VR, MSI GE Raider, Gigabyte Aero 15, Gigabyte/Aorus X5/X7 and Alienware 13.

Do you mind portability? Check out Alienware 17, Clevo P series (check out Clevo guide in this forum), MSI GT, Gigabyte/Aorus X5/X7. Also, most 120Hz panels are TN panel but they are good TN panel with good colour gamut and contrast. 120Hz IPS panels are expensive.

No one can guarantee it will last long, that's what I call 'electronics lottery'. Business laptops last long in general. Also, gsync kills battery life.

Lenovo Thinkpads, Dell Latitudes, HP Probook, or workstations like Dell Precision, Lenovo P series, HP Zbook etc. All are not gaming orientated and they are usually more expensive compared to regular consumer laptops and even some Ultrabooks.

Yes, if you can wait. You need to wait for reviews too so as to see whether manufacturers can deal with the new 6 core chip with enhanced VRMs and cooling solution. A 7th gen 7700HQ is still capable in handling modern games.
