(FIXED) Pc Ethernet Slower than wireless!!

I have my router connected to my Pc with a cat 5e cable. A speed test on my phone shows 280 and 14 upload on 5G. Same with my laptop but my desktop is always 60 and 2.5 upload. The lan port supports up to 1gig on my mobo. Can not find out why?

Ryzen 3 1200

Yea Speed test on phone is 280 download and 14 upload. Speed test on pc is 60 down 2.5 up Why is it so much slower and its wired

There is still too much confusion as the title is about wifi slowness yet you say your PC is wired.

Yes, My pc is wired but the speed is much slower and I am trying to found out why.

Hmm, so what is your network layout?

You have a main router (What model)? Is the PC directly plugged into the router? How far away is the PC from the router?

Have you tried a different Ethernet cable?

I'm not really an expert on this wireless stuff but I think 5G and wifi are different things correct me if I'm wrong please

your mobile and laptop are connected to the same router as your computer?

Ah, I've seen this router before. My uncle has this same model. It does have 1Gb/s Ethernet ports. Still strange as to why the speed difference.

On your PC, did you check the network adapter properties to make sure it's running 1Gb/s mode?

Also, what are you using to test the speed? Same website for all three devices?

Finally, you have installed the Ethernet driver for the PC's motherboard right?

Yep went to msi's website. Its set to 1gig on the adaptor. using xfinity.speedtest and speedtest .net

hmm, running out of ideas now.

Does your laptop have a Ethernet port? What happens if you plug the laptop into the Ethernet port on the router? Same speed as the desktop?

5G in WiFi refers to 5 Ghz, which can support much faster speeds on the WiFI standard compared to the standard 2.4 Ghz band.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

If you actually paid attention to who I quoted, you would have seen I was answering @aezakmi question concerning the 5G reference. As they though people were talking about 5G Cellular data, and not 5Ghz WiFi.

asked because I stumbled upon some articles about a 5G network that's for phones but nvm

OP's problem is a weird one, @Lxfts have you tried using a wifi receiver on your desktop computer?

Man, this is very weird indeed. The ping is lower on the Ethernet at least.

I still don't understand why the wired part of the router would be slower though.

very likely the cell phone will try to use its internet as well as your isp landline internet

but watch linus video on cat cables and their frequencys used(100mhz 200mhz 250mhz)

cat5 works with 1gbps but it does not share well as its 100mhz cable(it takes ages to talk)

open youtube video then goto settings and play speed

treat normal speed as 1gbps 200mhz

now set video to .5x playspeed

this is how router sees the slower freq cable

try setting your adapter to halfduplex and it should behaive better as this will force the adapter to do either send or recieve but not both simultaneously

did you turn your cell data off to due the test?

Does your pc have built in ethernet or are you using a usb to Ethernet adapter?

can you confirm the link speed from the router to your pc? there may be a page in the router saying port X is connected to 1gbps
