Is it normal ? PSU noise ?

gbergeron

Hi guys,

See my signature for PC parts.

Basically, I hear a remarkable fan/psu noise in my pc, nothing huge, 40 DB measured by my phone app (phone very close to the PSU exaust) :P

Thing is I tho it was something else so I unplugged all fans, pump from water cooler, everything, and then realised the noise is still the same, just like the fans are quiter than this specific noise, and the only thing that remains on is the PSU.

Question is is this normal for a RMx 750 ? I bought this cuz I saw videos where reviews were saying they are quiet...

Lemme know what you think. Also If I would liek to change the psu to see the difference, which one is the most quiet of all ? any ideas ?

So you have a noise.  You don't know what it is.  But you want us to help you?

That's a bit frustrating.

You say it's *like* a fan noise?  Is it a fan noise or isn't it?

The RMx has a zero RPM fan mode.  In normal operating temperatures (25°C room) and there's little to no load on the PSU (which your build just sitting at the desktop) the fan of the PSU should not be spinning at all.

Does the fan on the PSU spin or not?

If it's not spinning, it's not fan noise.

If so, what is the noise.  Use descriptors.  Adjectives.  Buzz?  Crackle?  Zap?  Hiss?  Angry bees?  Herd of buffalo?

"Remarkable" is not an adjective for a noise.  What does a "remarkable" sound like?
