Low FPS with GTX 1080

Firetk

So I built a new PC mid October and I've been playing destiny 2 and borderlands 2 and I feel like im getting lower fps then I should be

I'm getting around 100FPS on destiny on MAX and about the same on borderlands 2.  All gaming is at 1080p

My build is

AMD Ryzen 5 1600 at 3500

Asus ROG Strix b350f

Zotac Geforce GTX 1080mini

Rosewill PHOTON Series 750W

Team T-Force Delta II ddr4 2666

WD Black 512GB Performance SSD

System never thermal throttles temps on the cpu never get higher than 50

GPU maintains around 50-60

Firestrike score is 16628

Am I just going crazy?

Okay I will fiddle around with some OC on my GPU

Thanks guys

If you have a decent cpu cooler like a 240mm AIO or above, I'd OC that CPU too. I'd try to get it to 3.9 or 4.0 at least. For the record, I'm running a system with a 1080 as well but with an i7 4790k overclocked to 4.7ghz and my firestrike score is only 2000 higher so you're not really doing too bad for that setup if you ask me.

Your system is VR compatible for god sakes.

You're doing good ;)

I would first check whether it is the GPU or the CPU that is at its limits. If it's the CPU, OCing the GPU will have no impact (and the other way around). I'd recommend you monitor GPU and CPU usage while gaming in order to decide how to proceed.
