Do I need a soundcard for Sennheiser Game one?

SimoneP

So currently I have a Steelseries Siberia Raw Prism headset. I like it, sound is clear to me (I'm not an audiophile), it's super comfortable (only weighs 200 grams), but the microphone isn't that great. It's falling apart a bit after lots of use. So I'm looking at buying a new headset.

I googled for a bit and landed on the Sennheiser game one. It seems like it has good sound, a good microphone and also looks comfortable and not too heavy. But I'm wondering if I would need a soundcard for this headset? I have a Asus Z170 Pro Gaming motherboard. I don't know if the onboard sound is good enough, or if that doesn't matter. Could someone enlighten me?
