Which SSD would you prefer?

PeterSa

Crucial MX500 or the Samsung 850 EVO.

Just wondering if it would be worth cutting down $20 and getting the MX500.

thanks

hey man, I'm not an expert here but I recently bought an mx500, it have not arrived yet so... I'm waiting:)

my advise would be to go with that, my first ssd was a samsung and it not ended up well, so back then I did a quick exploration and in fact it was not the drive fault, I just had  to choose another model because it was not intended to be used for that workload, but that said, I didn't want to go with another samsung so I chose the Crucial M4, and man I abused this drive, now it's still OK as the system drive in my dad's pc, he only use it to see movies and web browsing etc. so the ssd is kind of getting a break but his 2nd gen i3 and 8gb of ram flies and the boot time is just as fast as my work pc

I used it to the bares bone, and then the m 500, the bx100( I sold it later) the mx300 525(this is my current system disk) + mx300 275, then I swapped the mx 275 for the bx300 240 and finally I'm replacing it with the new mx500

I use this drives to cache AE, Photoshop, and autosave, bitmap proxy and autosave in Autodesk 3ds Max and they sustain loads of TBW without issue I have not had a single problem with any of those so I can highly recommend you this brand

a friend have the 850 evo as system file and 2 times it hade to do a system restore after a 3ds max BSOD, Max really likes BSOD, so 2 in a lot of time it's really not that bad but I haven't that problem in years, last time I had to do that I had the system in a spinning hdd, nevertheless he still conserve this disk as cache and by that time he bought a crucial 550.... another ssd without problem
