if its 8 years old, all the more reason to replace it. PSUs go bad with time seeing as the capacitors age. so while yes, you can run that just fine and overclock all you want because you wont even be hitting the not 500W that it can put out max on the 12V line(the one that mainly matters) if thats your only system about $50 on a new PSU that is sure to work for quite a while more isnt too bad IMO. the CX450 is a good budget choice

Lol, an Ivy Bridge i5 and 1050Ti consuming 280W xD

Apart from the fact that the system you have there will maybe consume 125W, you would be fine with a Corsair CX450M.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

yes but who knows the quality of that tbh, could go up in flames too

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

A 500W PSU with 240W on the 12V rail? Put it right in a bin. And set the bin on fire. If the PSU hasn't done it by the time you find a lighter.

Urgh

Replace it ASAP with a quality one.

That one smells like utter garbage that might kill the components and/or you at any second.
