Upgrading from an Iphone 5c

Ok first off, I know, I know, "Your still using an Iphone 5c?!?!? No wonder your upgrading" lol

 

Ok with that out of the way, these are the upgrade options I have in front of me (in no real order).

 

1.Huawei P10 lite

2.LG Q6

3.LG Stylo 3 PLUS

4.Apple iPhone 6 32 GB

 

These are the options my provider offer as a free upgrade, so please restrict advice to the list above. Thanks.

 

Looking for advice as I know very little about this stuff. I will only use the phone for things like social media,calls,text,pictures, what I would call "average" use cases.

Definitely the iphone 6, less hassle and you already know the UI/Ecosystem so it should be a much smoother transition to switching.

Other than the crappy aluminum and battery fix thingy, you should be fine.

Personally, I would avoid the iPhone if it is on iOS 11. I had a 6 Plus on iOS 11 and it was pretty unbearably slow, however I'm not sure what the battery wear level on it was. I would also avoid the Stylo 3 Plus because it only has 2GB RAM, versus the 4GB in the Q6 and P10 lite. The P10 lite is the most powerful of the three Android devices, however the Q6 has the 18:9 screen going for it. Both phones would be perfectly suitable for your use case though.

 

Again though, I'm not sure if the iPhone 6 would be fine on iOS 11 if it had a new battery (as the phone you're buying does.)

I used a 5s on iOS 11 and it wasn't bad, so the battery on that 6 was probably very low (also Tim Cook recently said that a future iOS update would also allow you to disable throttling -- the beta for that version will release next month).

I would avoid the 6 nowadays. It's far too old and software updates will continue to slow it down due to its age.

 

If restricted to this list, I'd go for the Huawei p10 Lite. (with the LG Q6 coming second)

 

However, if you're at the end of your 5C contract, I'd buy a phone outright and then get a sim-only contract so you're free from the stupid rules like this that carriers have.

I use a P9 Lite and have a family member that uses the P10 Lite and to be honest, they are more or less the same thing unless you look at the physical side of it, The p10 Lite looks more premium but personally I prefer my p9 Lite, It has a more rectangular shape, The 10 has corners that are rounded a lot more and the software on it is just confusing (EMUI 5 or something, Huawei's skin for the Android version).

 

I wouldn't recommend the LG Stylo 3 PLUS after doing just a quick comparison on it with the LG Q. The iPhone 6 is old now and I would consider it 'antique' if you look at the newest line up of phones from Apple but that's nothing seeing what you're upgrading from. 

This may not be that big of a problem but as you said, The iPhone 5c is already old and I just think that you would feel more or less the same way by getting the I6. But if you're not that worried about this, Then go for it.

 

As a free upgrade, The LG Q6 would appeal to me the most, It's fairly new, Got 64GB storage, 4GB ram, and its resolution is 1080x2160, etc. 

So i think it's a really good phone, especially as a free upgrade, I wouldn't think twice if I was given this or the I6.

All his options are essentially "old". Yes the Q6 and P10 are from 2017, but they're using low end hardware, so you still get that older feel.

I would have to disagree, The I6 really stands out among the list of phones. My phone is from 2016 and it doesn't feel the slightest bit old.

Neither does the 6. But the other phones on that list are all low spec'd phones that are similar in performance to the iPhone 6 -- so if the 6 feels old, then so will the rest.

I've had a lot of experience with this phone and my old Sony E4 and i would have to advise, steer away from Sony, Although some of their phones may look good, Both phones I had used had turned out to be quite glitchy and I did not enjoy the overall performance with these phones, This may have changed in the last couple of years but as I said, this was only my experience with Sony phones.

 

The XA has poor battery life coming in at only 2300mAh. 2GB RAM which is ok but other phones in the price range offer better, I have heard that The phone experiences some issues with 'Ghost Touch'.

I suppose this may be true but what I want to say that even though these phones may be in a similar performance range to the I6, Yes, They may have been out for the same or very similar amount of time. We shouldn't use just this to determine whether or not a phone is considered old (or if it feels old at least) as phones can age well or badly and that can make all the difference in how "old" a certain phone may feel. (I mean just look at what has recently been going on at Apple with the slowing down of older phones to preserve the battery life)
