1070Ti or 1080 for 1440p gaming?

ErykYT3

I've seen a lot of people say that you should get a 1080 over a 1070 for gaming at 1440p, or just generally higher than usual fps (like over 100). This was before the 1070Ti had come out, how have views changed towards gaming in this resolution and which card is better for it?

The 1070 ti should be enough for respectable 1440p gaming. I think however that the 1080 will be a better investment if you have the extra cash.

1080 owner here. Fork over extra for it.

It's gonna be worth it for 1440p esepecially with more demanding games like Ghost Recon Wildlands that will take advantage of that extra horsepower. Don't expect 100FPS with a 1080 for those kinds of games though, I got roughly 40-60 FPS with it.

Good luck

The 1070 Ti is around 10% less performing than the GTX 1080. And you can find overclocked versions that'll make up the difference. So it'll do fine at 1440p.

nvidia doesn't allow board partners to factory OC 1070 ti's to try to avoid encroaching 1080 sales

To make it short, if you overclock your cards, go with the 1070 Ti if it is cheaper enough to justify.

Id say 1080 ti. good luck finding one in stock at a fair price.

I play on 1080 in 1440p with 8700k at 5 GHz and I get less than 100fps in AAA games.

I can get closer to 144 hz in Esports type games though.

If you can get a 1070 Ti or a 1080 get either one or both due to the shortage
