CPU-Z Says 2 Cores on a Quad-Core CPU

Hello,

I just recently upgraded my CPU from an A6-7400k to an X4 880k. I updated the drivers and I noticed that CPU-Z and Task Manager says that I only have 2 cores when my CPU is a quad core. I checked the BIOS and it showed that all of my cores were running, but windows did not. I have tried everything and it would be appreciated if someone could help. Screenshots and specs are below.

Specs:

OS: Windows 10 Home 64-bit

CPU: AMD A6-7400k

RAM: 8GB Dual Channel DDR3

Motherboard: Gigabyte F2A68HM-HD2

GPU: GTX 750 Ti\

I take it the x4 is using the core/module mix over what Intel calls cores?  Could be why.   So, it's probably like 2 of what Intel calls cores, and then like a module mixed in the core.  The FX 8 cores, for example, have 4 cores with 4 modules equating to 8 "cores"  iirc.

This is correct. @lando4commando That CPU is based on the 'Steamroller' architecture, which had 2 cores per module. A module is essentially one large core, with two smaller 'cores' on the inside sharing some parts of the module, such as L3 cache, an ALU, and a few other things, reducing single core performance. Windows is just detecting the modules, and saying you have 4 logical threads, instead of 4 actual cores. It's like an older-gen i3, with 2 cores and 4 threads.

@TheRandomness The thing is, I am only getting 15 fps in Rainbox Six Seige and YouTube videos clearly show that I should be getting 60-70 fps. I don't know what's wrong

Your GPU doesn't seem to appear in Task Manager. Did you install drivers from NVIDIA, and make sure that the display cable is plugged into the actual GPU and not the motherboard?

There is definitely something wrong. It should show you have 2 cores and 4 logical processors. Have you tried to reset CMOS?

Yes, I have every driver and I have GeForce experience and I update the drivers every time a new one comes out. The display cable is plugged into the GPU

Random, look at the screenshot.

Cores: 1

Logical Processors: 2.

Half the cores are missing.

I've had strange issues like that. Restart your computer, and hope it fixes? If not, unplug, and remove the bios battery, then press the power button for 10 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

I have lost count of how many times I have restarted my computer while trying to fix this. Where is the bios battery?

I did not read that properly. Hey, at least I said how it should be working, therefore showing what's wrong :P

@TheRandomness I hope you can find out a way to fix this. I have been sitting here trying to fix it for the past 4 hours. I need a solution
