Is this a good $2500 CAD build?

Daniel Z.

This list is for my friend. Please help him out of his Razer addiction. I used Amazon and Memory Express only because it is 40 more than normal, and we have a memory express pretty close.

I'm not seeing RAM in this list, but the list itself looks fine other than that (CPU cooling would be nice though). I might consider a better PSU though. The SeaSonic Focus Plus Gold is $120 at Newegg Canada if you can order it.

What's the build for?

All MSI AM4 motherboards are crap and/or overpriced.

Way overkill wattage on the PSU. You could get a better, lower wattage PSU for less.

Your second build is vastly superior to the first.

The G3 is only $3 more. Not sure what the differences are between the two but might be worth taking a look at.

I don't usually recommend Seagate but honestly for the price it's a good deal.

I also prefer gaming headsets because I hate having 2 cables coming off of it, but each to their own there :P

But the VRM isn't any better than the B350 Krait and Carbon. Just a big 4-phase.

If you got it for B350 prices, it's fine, I guess. But if you'll overclock an 8-core, you'll probably want something better

It was $45. I'm just throwing a 1400 in it, so I think it should be fine? I'm only using it for a year anyway. *crosses fingers*

It was $45. I'm just throwing a 1400 in it, so I think it should be fine? I'm only using it for a year anyway. *crosses fingers*
I wasn't a huge fan of MSI, but at that price...

ye it will be fine, especially for 4 core, even 6 core would be ok

Don't buy Apple M1 computers with 8GB of RAM

I'm not seeing RAM in this list, but the list itself looks fine other than that (CPU cooling would be nice though). I might consider a better PSU though. The SeaSonic Focus Plus Gold is $120 at Newegg Canada if you can order it.

Nothing obviously wrong. I do have terrible experience with Seagate drives though

What's the build for?

All MSI AM4 motherboards are crap and/or overpriced.

Way overkill wattage on the PSU. You could get a better, lower wattage PSU for less.

If he wants a headset, I can recommend a Arctis 3/5 over that one.

PSU is TRASH and motherboard ask @dave_k first

Change the PSU to the TX550M, if he won't replace all the cables.

Other than that, I think it looks fine.

Is it worth getting a hybrid EVGA 1080ti if it's only 70 more?

They are one of the best OC boards out there. Support from them is awesome. There are plenty of boards more expensive than the MSI boards.

Tell me more about that. Tell me more about how a 4-phase VRM with crappy MOSFETs is better for overclocking than a real 6-phase, a doubled 4-phase or a doubled 6-phase, all with decent MOSFETs. Or the overpriced Xpower Titanium with a 6-phase using crappy MOSFETs.

It's not about the price, it's about getting your money's worth. And if you get a much worse board, even if it isn't as expensive, it's overpriced.

Support isn't awesome. It took a while for them to get the Agesa 1006 update.

:)
