You known you can move the fan to the outside edge and run it at 160mm right?

I dont own a D15 but noctuas spec sheet labels its height as 165 mm

Then noctua should fix their drawing :)

There's nothing wrong with it.

Not sure about this because yea when they label it as 165 mm tall and the drawing shows the fan at 165 mm when the thing can be actually lowered all the way down i don`t think its correct. Maybe that mounting as its in the drawing will yield the best performance and this is why they did it but would be nice for customers to know that before buying another one that this thing can actually fit in a case with 160 mm CPU cooler clearance with there original fans.

You can move the fans and put one of them over the vrms and lower it down.

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

Yea i know now but such things should be clear within the spect sheet of a product and or the technical drawing which they provide.

The illustration is mainly to show options for ram clearance as opposed to optimal configuration for performance. It positions the front fan at that height for 32mm of clearance which is standard ram height or close to it when accounting for a thin heatsink. That being said, that fan can be moved to the other side of the heatsink as pull for most mainstream boards with ram on one side of the board.

They specify the height of the heatsink as 160mm. https://noctua.at/en/nh-d15/specification

What cpu, ram, and case are you using?

The case actually has at least 158mm of clearance for a cooler--I suspect up to 160mm but I could use some more confirmation before assuming it's true. The spec listed doesn't account for the side panel bump.

For a better value, I'd suggest going with a H7 or Mugen 5.

I have a few questions would a dark rock 3 and or dark rock 3 pro fit and even though it isn't officially supported do you think that and h100iv2 would fit in my case if i were to go the liquid cooling route.

The H100i barely fits at the front but I'm not sure about the H100i v2. https://www.thinkcomputers.org/corsair-carbide-series-100r-case-review/5/

The DR3 and DRP3 probably don't fit.

Why are you looking at these coolers in particular? Aesthetics?

The Mugen 5 performs about as well as the DR3 or DRP3.

Don't know for sure. Unless you don't mind returning the cooler if it doesn't fit, I would suggest ordering a cooler that's 158mm tall or shorter.

I hate to keep asking u question and I know I am probably wasting your time but will an h100i v2 fit in the top or front of my Corsair 100r if I were to go with watercooling because I would like a nice cooler and would rather not buy a new case to accommodate one.

Probably not since the motherboard or ram would get in the way.

The Mugen 5 isn't far off from the H100i v2, is much cheaper, and fits inside your case without a hassle. What's stopping you from just going with that cooler instead?
