Ugly Black Bar on top of File Explorer

Go to solution Solved by Enderman,

That's the problem with custom themes and stuff, when they change system or registry stuff it's pretty much permanent.

You can try removing or uninstalling all the themes and software but I don't think that will fix it, you will probably need to clean install.

Since the latest Windows update, I've been having this issue with my file explorer where the bar at the top that displays the current location has turned completely black and is just plain ugly. -_-

I did install some kind of file explorer tweaker (?) about a year ago to help out with my theme at the time, but since I haven't used that transparent "spacey" theme in over a year I just switched it back and carried on using Windows with the default theme. Also yes, this is a Windows machine but the icons are from Linux (I believe?) which came as part of that tweak pack that I installed a while back.

Has this happened to anyone else and do you know why it suddenly decided to break?

All help appreciated,

feel free to ask questions,

please help me. :(

- Frosty

P.S If anyone knows how to sort of "factory reset" my file explorer / Windows themes then that would be awesome.

well its clearly a result of this theme pack. Even if it is turned off something is clearly broken.

Ugh, what a bummer. Well I'll definitely consider doing that, my PC is festered with lots of junky programs anyway. Maybe my 2018 New Year's Resolution will be to take better care of my desktop.. :$
