Hey, welcome to the forum

From what are you saying, you don't need 144Hz FullHD monitor, you will be happier with higher resolution.

The question is 1440p or 4K.

If you choose 4K, you won't get 60 FPS on ultra settings. You will be somwhere between 40 and 50 in Fallout 4 and Witcher 3

On the other hand, with 1440p you will definitely hit that 60 FPS mark. However it won't look as good as 4K obviously.

So, i'd personally go with 4K, the view will be truly amazing

Hi Thank you in advance

I'm doing a build for myself and have a most of the parts i want sorted out

- Intel Core i7 7700K Quad Core LGA 1151 4.2 GHz

- Cooler Master Hyper 212x cooler

- Asus ROG Maximus IX HeroMotherboard

- Kingston FURY 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory

- Samsung 840 Evo 500gb SSD

- Asus - GeForce GTX 1080 8GB ROG STRIX Video Card

- EVGA - SuperNOVA P2 650W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

(Dont Know What Parts are irrelevant for choosing  a monitor)

I mostly play Total War, Most of the Warhammer Games, Anno, with Witcher and Fallout thrown in from time to time

the monitors im looking at are the Asus VG245H - 24in FHD 1ms, Asus PB277Q 27 inch 2K WQHD (2560 x 1440 1ms 75Hz and Asus VP28UQG 28 inch Gaming Monitor 4K 1ms

I'm in Australia and the Price range for me is 300 to 550 AUD

I am the kind of guy to just sit back and enjoy the view of what ive created in anno or zoom in to see the mighty clash about to take place in total war, if that helps

So wich monitor would be best for me of those three, if none then suggest the resolution and refresh rate you think i should get and ill hunt it down.

Thank you again

1080p 144hz will take advantage of your hardware,  both 7700k and gtx 1080 . 4k 60 will push gtx 1080 to it limit but won't be same for 7700k . 1440p with 120 hz will be best for 7700k with gtx 1080 , with your case is only 75 hz . So 1080p with 144hz will push both your gpu and cpu to max . Simply both cpu and gpu will be at max usage when gaming at 1080p with 144 hz than  1440p at 75 hz or 4k at 60 hz
