1050ti Outperforms 1060?

So I recently upgraded my 1050ti to the 1060 3 gigabyte version, I know -1 GB but I didn't think it was a big deal, I ran cinebench to check my new score and it was lower than the 1050ti.

1050ti: 97.77

1060 3GB: 83.04

I know it isn't a big difference but I didn't upgrade to get lower FPS numbers, is it because cinebench eats up vram so my system has to use my normal ram instead of the vram?

Will the 1050ti be better in games than the 1060?

Sythentics often tax systems and so will eat up your frame buffer aka your VRAM. So that may be why and if it does not have enough clock speed, memory speed and cuda cores where aplicatible to make up for it you will get lower sythentics.

Oh, so the 1050ti's extra 1 gig helped it out on the benchmark. But that doesn't mean it will be better in games, right?

@DirtyKeyboard deopends on the game, resoultion, settings, engine etc.

If you run games at 1080p, the 1060 3gb will definitely run faster 99% of the time

Would games get even close to 3gb needed vram at 1080p high?

@DirtyKeyboard No as stated above for 1080P it'll be faster as most games so far dont REQUIRE 4gigs or more of memory. If you play on 1440P or like to crank up AA alot it may suffer. But in general it is a better card.

Wow, what a relief, I saw the score and my jaw dropped lol, and yeah I won't be diving into 4K with a 1060 lol. Thanks for your help guys.

Also another question, how do I overclock my GPU?

@DirtyKeyboard Your welcome. One befit from your 1060 is if you play games that like CUDA cores liek say Wildlands you'll do better. That game seems to enjoy CUDA cores alot.

Here's some real world scenarios with games. From what I see the 1060 3gb has double the framerates in most games. I'd say you made a good choice in getting the 1060.

I recommend using something like MSI Afterburner. It makes it super easy.

Don´t use Cinebench 3D test as a GPU test. It depends more on the CPU single core performance then the GPU.

a 1050 Ti will never be faster than a 3gb 1060, stop obsessing over VRAM, the processing chip always mattered the most.
