RAM not running at the advertised speed?

with a LOT of tweaking, MAYBE. but honestly unless you are doing highly complex RAM intensive operations, you're not going to really notice the performance loss at all.

I feel your pain though. I have to use 3466MHz RAM on my 1700x to get 3200MHz.

I thought Ryzen takes a lot of advantage of higher RAM speeds or whatnot. Do you know if this G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3200MHz CL16 Dual Channel Kit (F4-3200C16D-16GVKB) (2X8GB) can work at it's advertised speed? the support page listed the F4-3200C16D-8GVKB (2x4GB) as supported but would another stick matter?

It might matter. The 8GB modules might be Double Stack configuration, which DOES make a difference. As far as i can tell, and i'm sure you looked at this too... these are the only ones that will absolutely work at 3200 MHz on a Ryzen CPU:

It's a brave new world... WD Blue or Black would be my personal choice.

Is there some compatibility list somewhere I didn't pay attention to?

Do you know why http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=15_1086_210_212&item_id=050727

is less expensive than

http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=15_1086_210_212&item_id=050726

?

It's 500GB less and more expensive or have I not read into the fine prints again?

LOL, no idea. Maybe they're trying to get rid of some old stock or something...?

Got the same problem with Ram Speeds on my Gigabyte board. Its listed as compatibile but XMP just ends in Boot loop. I changed settings manualy to the recommended speed, timing and voltage in BIOS and its running now. Sometimes the motherboard getting trouble while reaply the settings when machine is booted up. Its so much time gone since release and still XMP won't work.

Even with a mainstream Board "Gigabyte ga-ab350 gaming 3" users have to wait for month for a possible fix.

Someone running Ryzen 5 and Ram with XMP working?

Please tell me which boards you guys running.

Hey, I just found out that the speed is only supported in their Athlon Chipset, not Ryzen.

Hey, I looked into the Support list for Ryzen. It shows CMK16GX4M2B3600C18. I asked Gigabyte support before buying if the 3200mhz verson will work too.

They said they tested 3600mhz so all other will run too...

Yeah thats what i see now...

This is me not knowing about the preset AI Overclock Tuner. Before, I just dialed up the frequency without any other adjustments. Everyone was telling me about this "XMP", but nowhere does it show that acronym anywhere in my BIOS.

Thanks I got it working now. There is a preset that you must select, but being a noob, I just dialed up the frequency without changing anything else.

It should be working, try contacting the RAM manufacturers about the situation and it could be you have a faulty kit.

XMP is an Intel thing, D.O.C.P. (DRAM Over-Clock Profile) is an AMD thing. I thought you knew! Dude! Awesome!

If you check AMD's site, on all Ryzen CPU's it says under specifications:

Max System Memory Speed
2667MHz

Now lots of us are getting beyond that speed just fine but that is the official specs from AMD themselves.
