My mom's computer has a gt 610 in it, she only plays sims 3/ a few other mid range games, the 610 gets like ~30-40 fps on sims 3, (plenty for her) but a buddy of mine has a gigabyte 7850 2gb, and it selling it to buy a 280x soon, should I buy it and stick it in her comp?

She wants to save money for a new comp anyways, so this may fix the gpu situation on that, I think I can get it from him for like 80$ maybe, (dunno if thats a good deal, think it is)

She wants to play sims 4 when it comes out aswell forgot to mention that

Also here's the Cpu in the comp, dunno if it'll bottleneck, i don't think so but yea: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103704

Thoughts?

While a good deal, doesn't 7850 sound a bit overkill for your mum? Unless you'll get her into high-end games, then most definitely yes.

I think maybe if the comp could play higher end games she may, I could install steam on her comp and see if she wanted to play tomb raider or something I suppose xD

Yeah 80 bucks for a 7850... not even worth thinking about getting it or not. It's a good deal :)

a 7850 is a good starting point. it would still play tomb raider on medium and like you said she could sell it and get a 280x once the prices have gone down a bit if she wanted something even faster.

I figured I could just get the 7850 stick it in there and leave it for like 6 years, it's not like she does anything serious anyways lol
