Installing an OS on an ssd

CowsGoMoo32
Go to solution Solved by Godlygamer23,

Re-install the OS once you put it in the new PC. This will reduce conflict.

So I have a new SSD and a windows 8.1 OEM Code and i want to install it. I am going to disconnect my HDD in my current computer and just put the ssd there. Will that be ok

NOTE: That SSD will be installed into a different pc someone time later.

When you install an OS it needs to install certain drivers and components depending on the hardware and bios settings. Unless both PC's are absolutely identical, you will run into issues and possible BSOD.

The windows key is bound to the motherboard, so if it's changed, there will be problems.

Regardless, you can reset the key.
