HDD black vs Blue worth?

Arixl

My old HDD western Digital black broke so I need a new one I know the blue is much cheaper than the black because the blacks are "faster and better for gaming " but how much of a difference does it actually make ? Is the extra 50 or so worth it?

Haven't tried one myself but also curious.

Are you running Windows on an SSD?  If already using an SSD and this drive will just be storage for games I don't think you will see much improvement.

So they are the same speed? The blue isn't slower by a noticeable difference?

The black is technically faster, but it's a small difference.

Black one is suppose to be faster, but I don't see any major difference between the Blue, Even the green and red performs about the same as the Black. The only difference is the rpm and warranty it comes with. Blue tops out at 1TB for the 7200 rpm model, and higher capacity are rated at 5400rpm. Black are all 7200rpm. Blue is only a 2 year warranty, Black still retains their 5 year warranty..

Blue 1GB @ 7200rpm, rest are 5400rpm, 2 year warranty

Black, all at 7200 rpm, 5 year warranty

Red, 5400 rpm, 3 year warranty

Red Pro, 7200 rpm, 5 year warranty

Green - replaced by the new 5400rpm blue
