Advice on VideEditing/Gaming builds

So I'm wanting to get back into pc gaming with a sufficient build. Something that I can upgrade in the future and can run all the latest games well. In addition, I would also like to edit video projects and even do some after effects/visual effects work in cinema 4D.

Is it even possible to build a solid gaming rig, that can be upgraded, for this type of work or am I kind of screwed if I don't drop top dollar for more power all at once? If anyone has advice on this I'd appreciate the help, especially anyone here who works with or produces media and visual effects and content for a living.

Thanks.

USA, Probably around 1000$. If possible a little less than that. I want to go with Windows. In terms of monitor, not too sure. And peripherals, I have everything i need.

I cannot say I work in your field. I just wanted to warn you of one thing. Memory prices are crazy right now. And I know you will need a lot of it. Just a heads up!

A Coffee Lake i7 will provide reasonable video editing performance. Not professional grade performance, but good enough for non time-constrained projects.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

So Ive been out of the loop for like a decade in terms of building pcs. Are AMD processors compatible with nvidia cards nowadays? Also do you think sticking with AMD is a good choice for even better cpus in the future?

Thanks for the list by the way!

they'll work just fine with each other, zen+ and likely zen2 will be released for AM4 and should be compatible with that board while intel only ever sticks to 2 generations before making that socket obselete and going with another socket(and Z390 gets exclusive support for 8-core coffeelake cpus which is bullshit).
