This is where I think the legal system has it wrong, people in those positions are accountable for the running of the business and that is the exact excuse they use to get paid multi million dollar salaries a year. So if this is supposed to be true and proper justification for pay due to your responsibilities then sorry you are accountable, for big disasters/health and safety violations/fraud etc that are significant you should be aware of what is going on, these aren't minor issues.

 

Ignorance of the law isn't a defense until wait suddenly it is? Either drop your pay to something sane or actually accept the responsibility you claim to have.

I don't necessarily disagree, the issue is it depends on how your legal system defines liability and malice. The US Military has a separate legal system for these reasons, since they do have hierarchy-responsive penalties.

 

It runs a lot into the issues on having to let some that are guilty go free because to do otherwise opens a world of other problems.

except the problem with their gpus is simply a scalability issue, which is exactly what they will be resolving with navi

It's too poorly supported by software to be very competitive on compute applications and runs too much power for miners.

 

I alluded to this point in one of my previous replies however I maintain that AMD hasn't been able to successfully combat Nvidia tactics of getting cozy with some key software developers so their CUDA stuff is more widespread and optimized. It's a bit insidious since on paper AMD should be winning on the compute market but they're not due do this and so far I don't see AMD being able to counter that: Just hoping the open source community would pick up the slack isn't nearly enough: It took a lot of bad faith from MS for other companies to eventually throw their support behind Linux for the server world and for the time being I don't think Nvidia would be as negatively received for this tactics so AMD will remain without a way to capture that market imo, other than investing heavily in software optimization and such and I'm not sure they can spare the resources.

They also were buying many 1070s at one point because AMD literally ran out of polaris chips to meet their demand. But this is more difficult to predict since miners looking at RoI would rather get worst initial price right now than wait without mining when difficulty and coin values might fluctuate quite a bit so it's highly volatile.

 

Tell you what I partially concede that this is extremely dependent on circumstance down to even day to day price and availability.

Since when is that a guarantee? Faildozer/FX was AMD's only CPU flop, they always had solid products before that and there's no way to know what the future holds. Just because the company had one really bad product doesn't mean they're always destined to fuck up. I mean, Intel made the Pentium 4 and Pentium D, so you could apply that to them too.

well if you compare something like rx480 vs 1060 isn't that bad, they just have been putting too much voltage for the clocks while stock, vega is even more overvolted than polaris running well above the voltage needed, why i have no clue
