Steam pixelated in 4k

Go to solution Solved by 19_blackie_73,

If you go 200% it should work because now its a natural multiple of it

So I got my Dell 7577 with the 4k display.

And Windows is default set to scale 250% which works great.

But then there is Steam which is really low resolution and looks terribly pixelated as wel as the notification icon in the system tray.

Anyone with a 4k display encountered this and found a fix?

I asked Steam support too and will update once they'll answer.

I've got the same issue at 300% scaling. I guess it's just not optimized but nothing to worry about.

Its just window's scaling being horrible. It always has been. I've had nothing but issues with various programs running with windows scaling on a friend's PC, and its why I'm not buying any high resolution displays that would need scaling. It just doesn't work very well.

200% scale may help as its nice doubling of the pixels.

Well I'm not worried, II just think it sucks that steam doesn't scale properly.

Haven't tried to put windows back to 100% scaling but I won't be able to read anything on a 15.6" display :)

@FloRolf uses 300% so by that logic he would have no problem but I will try it this evening thanks I hadn't thought of that.

Not only windows there are apps, games and website that have hardcoded pixelsizes I think that are either really tiny or extremely large.

Only scales increasing by 2, 4 or 8 work in theory

You are correct tho this is tinier than I'm used to but at least programs like steam now look decent.

@FloRolf @KSores It is resolved by scaling 200% which I won't do since everything else will look terrible.

Steam Support replied:

Hello,

4k resolution is not currently supported.

However, the development team always releases feature updates through the Steam beta client. You can watch the announcements page here and opt in once 4k support has been added.

If you have an unrelated issue please reply here and I'll be happy to help.

Best Regards,
C.J.

Cool, thanks. I really wonder why their 4k support is still non-existant even though it has been around for a loooong time.

I can't use 200% either because that'd be too small :D
